Coffee Grounds Composting Now Available From Fidalgo Bay Coffee!

2009 January 30
by david.fbc

Announcing a free value-added service for our clients

Many areas do not offer composting. We see this as a problem and as a result we have developed a solution. We have started a coffee grounds composting program.  Our route driver will collect the grounds on his or her route truck and bring them back to our warehouse for local composting.  After we get some volume, we will create a coffee-only composting facility onsite and sell the product.  Here are the basic points

1.    We will gather only coffee grounds (paper filters ok) from customers on our delivery routes from Seattle  to Bellingham.
2.    We will use gray 30 gallon tubs on our truck
3.    We will collect weekly using bio-compostable can liners
4.    We must not collect from a customer if there is trash in the compost.  It is up to the customer to sort.
5.    We will supply the liners to the customer at no charge, they need to supply their container at their site.

More Winter Wonder Land

2008 December 23
by david.fbc

We are making some progress digging ourselves out with special thanks to our neighbor Cascade Stone Supply who cleared the big stuff from our parking lot and got a semi unstuck yesterday.  However, there is more snow forecast for today!  What a welcome relief it will be to get some rain.  Don’t get me wrong, I do love the snow but its kind of like really hot weather, nice for a while, but then lets get back to normal.  I do wish that with all this work getting around in the snow these past few days we get a white Christmas.  It kinda feels like we deserve it.  I hope you have a Merry Christmas.

As most of you may know, Skagit Valley has been hit with a wild winter storm.  The end appears to be a long way off too.  Here are a few pictures of the snow around the office…

PCC has Fidalgo Bay Coffee

2008 December 15
by david.fbc

PCC Natural Markets www.pccnaturalmarkets.com has our Nature’s Crest Organic coffee in the bulk bean coffee section at all of their stores. The coffees are certified fair trade www.fairtradecertified.com and high elevation shade grown.

PCC is the largest food co-op grocery store chain in the United States of America. They do amazing things in our local community, at the store level, and with the PCC Farmland Trust http://www.pccnaturalmarkets.com/farmtrust/

PCC is a terrific place for Fidalgo Bay Coffee fans to shop and meet other gourmet foodies–you know who you are–and you wish you were going to have dinner with me at the James Beard House in NYC next Saturday:) Anyway, please check out your local PCC and pick up your FBC.

Here’s my offer: The first 10 people that buy some Fidalgo Bay Coffee at a PCC can simply email me and say, ”I just bought my FBC at PCC”. And I will send you a nice Fidalgo Bay Coffee travel mug. Don’t forget to give me your name and shipping address in the email. My email is darrylm@fidalgobaycoffee.com.

Go Fidalgo!

Best regards, Darryl

QFC now has Fidalgo Bay Coffee

2008 December 15
by david.fbc

QFC has our coffee in the coffee section at their stores. They are an excellent local chain of stores in Pacific Northwest–mostly in Western Washington around puget sound.

My sister Kay works at the Woodinville QFC–she’s one of their top meat managers–so if you are in the woodinville store say hi to Kay. She will knock you out with her enthusiasm and positive attitude. Really they are probably going to write some book about attitude based on this woman. Ok but really she just beat cancer and it’s totally gone. The people at Swedish Hospital have already put her on the radio and now they want to come out to her QFC store in Woodinville and film her in action as she bosses all those meat cutter dudes around. They love it.

Back to the subject–Fidalgo Bay Coffee is at QFC! QFC is awesome and we love them! They have been wonderful to my family and are a great local company that carries local products made in the Northwest!

Bonus time!

Here’s my offer: the first10 people that buy a bag or more of Fidalgo Bay Coffee at a QFC can simply email me and say, ”I just bought my FBC at QFC”. And I will send you a nice Fidalgo Bay Coffee travel mug. Don’t forget to give me your name and shipping address in the email. My email is darrylm@fidalgobaycoffee.com.

Go Fidalgo!

Northwest warmth,

Darryl
